Just for fun, and to celebrate the opening week of a great new venue in town, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down and Horse Feathers will appear Tuesday night July 28th at Woods, the new venue in historic Sellwood (Portland, OR). Thao will be joined by special guest members of the Portland Cello Project on some songs. Ticket price is $7. Woods is located at 6637 Milwaukie Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97202. Doors @ 8, show @ 9. if you're going the mailorder route, tobi got some distributed items in that i'd like to recommend... one is this band (well actually it's one woman) called us girls, that i saw last night at valentines. it's kind of crazy distorted beats w/ some weird vocals. pretty fun stuff. covers of bruce springstein, dave clark 5 and some originals too... another is the mars discography cd. it seems like this gets reissued every few years. i've seen pressings from atavastic, important records, etc. but there is a reason for it- it's really good. easily my favorite of all those no wave bands... also the extreme animals cd looks cool. i haven't heard it yet, but i have one of their records and listen to it quite a bit...
